The Meditation You can!

The word in the head

You don't have to be Shakespeare, Goethe, or Hemingway to use words so skillfully that you benefit from them sustainably. As early as 1839, the English playwright Edward Bulwer-Lytton asserted in his play "Cardinal Richelieu" that the pen is mightier than the sword – a quote now widely used around the world. And the eloquent author from the British Isles was absolutely right in his assertion. He probably didn't even realize how accurate and profound his assertion was.

Numerous world-famous political, social and, above all, military leaders use special rhetoric and very specific words to motivate crowds and inspire others to incredible achievements. Prime examples of this are the speeches of Winston Churchill, whose sayings "We shall fight on the beaches" and "Blood, toil, tears and sweat" are known the world over. Martin Luther King Jr. gave his famous "I Have a Dream" speech in 1963. With it, he inspired millions around the world in the fight against racism and made himself immortal. John F. Kennedy is also remembered to this day for phrases like "Ich bin ein Berliner" and "Ask not what your country can do for you...". Nelson Mandela gave his prison speech and, after his release, campaigned for reconciliation, which made him president of his country. This is exactly what brought South Africa the Rugby World Cup for the first time in history. And anyone who reads how generals like Napoleon, Alexander the Great or McArthur motivated their troops can guess that words are so much more powerful than any weapon.

We use the power of words in everyday life, usually instinctively and without thinking about it. We use words to flatter others, hurt the people we love, or teach arrogant know-it-alls a lesson. But not everyone can do exactly that, because it requires a realistic sense of self-worth, a healthy sense of self-confidence, and the courage to step forward and assert ourselves in front of others.

However, most people are completely unaware of how powerful words can be. It has now been scientifically proven thousands of times that words are much more than just a means of conveying messages. A single word can drive a person to extraordinary achievements and deeds, but it can also lead them to complete failure in a given situation. And those who learn to use words purposefully to manipulate their own subconscious can perform better, lose weight more easily, and deal with addictions with less pain, whether it's reaching for a cigarette, the thrill of gambling, or addiction to alcohol or drugs.

The power of words is constantly underestimated. Yet words can even permanently change a person's character traits and individual beliefs. A frightening example is the brainwashing that can turn normal, liberal-minded people into terrorists who kill without scruple or betray their own country. For us average people, words can be used to boost our careers, to be more understanding and raise our children better, or to soften or eliminate undesirable character traits. Yes-sayers, people who are simply unable to say no because they feel compelled to help everyone, are constantly exploited by those around them, often even by their own families. These people know that this behavior is wrong, and they secretly wish for nothing more than to be able to say no. With the help of correctly chosen words, it is possible to reprogram their behavior so that they are able to defend themselves against exploitation.

Among the scientifically recognized and repeatedly tested methods that can also be easily implemented in a private setting are neurolinguistic programming and the guided dream technique.
