"The Canterville Ghost" (1887) is a humorous novella in which an American family moves into a haunted English castle, but instead of being frightened, they outwit and frustrate the ghost, Sir Simon.

 

Oscar Wilde (1854–1900), Irish playwright, poet, and wit, was famed for his sharp humor and classic works such as "The Importance of Being Earnest" and "The Picture of Dorian Gray."
